show_chartQuant and trading
Some of the highest offers students get come from these firms, and their interviews are different. The coding runs harder, and most add rounds LeetCode cannot practise: mental maths against the clock, probability and puzzles, and trading games. Here is how to prepare for all of them.

Two or three problems in one or two hours, often on HackerRank, and harder than most product companies set. Competitive programming is the closest practice there is.
Expected value, conditional probability, counting, dice and cards, and classic brainteasers, worked out loud. For many firms this is the main interview.
Arithmetic against the clock with marks lost for wrong answers. Optiver sets eighty questions in eight minutes. Speed comes only from daily practice.
Making a market: quoting a bid and an offer on an unknown quantity and updating as you learn. Market makers set it in the final round.
For developer roles: C++ or Java internals, memory, operating systems and networks. Low latency is the product.
DOTCODE’s own sheet for these firms: probability, sampling, counting, number theory, games, bits and markets, each in steps from Easy to Hard, then the problems that two or more quant firms’ own lists share.
What each firm’s rounds test is as candidates and guides report it, with the source linked. It changes by year and by role, so read the source before you rely on it.
A two-hour HackerRank test: three medium to hard coding problems (DP, graphs, trees) and ten questions on OS, DBMS, networks and OOP. Then DSA and system design rounds.
Reported by a 2025 candidate
An online test on probability, statistics and problem solving rather than code, then long rounds of probability puzzles and expected value.
Reported by a 2023 intern
A screening test in three timed parts, probability, systems and coding, then interviews with coding in C++ and Python.

A timed mental maths test, then phone rounds of probability, games and expected value, and a final with coding and a market-making game. Python, C++ or Java are fine; OCaml is learnt on the job.

The "80 in 8": eighty arithmetic questions in eight minutes, a wrong answer costing a mark. Then sequences, a probability test and a market-making game. Software roles get long coding problems instead.
Reported by QuantVault guide
An online test of coding and a probability and statistics paper under tight time, then a trader conversation and a round of mental maths and harder probability.
Reported by a candidate
Two tests: sixty mental maths questions in six minutes, and twenty-six sequences in twenty-five, both marked minus one for a wrong answer.
Reported by PracHub guide
An online test of coding problems with questions on OOP, DBMS and networks and an aptitude section, then medium to hard DSA rounds, dynamic programming among them.
Reported by SupaCV playbook
A coding test, then phone screens: algorithms for developers, coding with probability and statistics for researchers. The final is system design or a talk on your own research.

For the coding rounds, which run closer to contest problems than to interview classics.
The first filter at most market makers. A few minutes every day beats an hour once a week.
